JBU Rugby Ireland 2002
God has blessed us with the oppurtunity to travel to Northern Ireland with a team of 25 guys on a rugby mission's trip this summer. This is the first mission's trip that JBU RFC will have taken in its 20 year history. We will play rugby games, visit schools and churches, hold day camps, and just make friends with the people. God will use our team's unity and joy to display his love to those we interact with. We pray that many will see the effect that Jesus Christ has made in our lives simply by our actions.

UPDATE (US Thurs 4:00pm): Our second match against Ballynahinch Under 20's was the coldest, wettest, windiest, nastiest game any of us has ever had the "privilege" to play, but it was also the most fun. Even though no sane person would have considered even walking to their car in the weather we played in, we completed a whole match Tuesday night. Our excitement about playing was contagious and the Ballynahinch players caught it. Therefore everyone on the pitch had a good time the whole game and laughed about the absolutely awful weather. One thing that influenced our spirits was the more balanced score of 19-39. After the game, most of the Ballynahinch team stayed to eat pizza that we bought. It was a chance for us to actually sit and chat with the players we were and are hoping to minister to. Everyone had an excellent time and made some new friends. Hopefully the contacts made Tuesday will ensure that a lot of the players join us for a bar-b-que after our final game on Friday night. Wednesday was a much needed day of rest. We slept in till 10:00. That afternoon we traveled t Downpatrick, center of tons of Irish history (site of the oldest church in Ireland, traditional burial place of St. Patrick, oldest pub in Ireland, and home to numerous churches, prisons, castles, and homes). We spent the afternoon hanging out with more teens at a drop in center. It was a pleasantly laid back afternoon. That evening we went to Murlough house for supper. It was the house we were originally going to stay in. We had supper with one of the other teams staying there. The rest of the evening was spent chatting and sitting around either at our house in Dundrum or at the Murlough house. Everyone enjoyed the time off. Today we got up early and toured the north coast. We visited sites such as Carrick-a-rede, an ancient fishing bridge which traverses a high crossing; the Giant's Causeway, a strange volcanic formation of hexagonal rocks; and Dunluce castle, an ancient and derelict castle on a rock island high above the sea. We will be spending all day tomorrow at Ballynahinch High giving presentations and discussions for Religious Education classes. Tomorrow evening we will also play our last match against Ballynahinch and hopefully have them all over for bar-b-que. Prayer Requests: Praise that we have been able to minister in so many ways and areas / praise that we have been able to reach out further to the Ballynahinch players / praise for such a beautiful island with bountiful history / that we might keep our focus as our trip comes to an end / that God moves in the hearts of those we have come into contact with or have come to know
