| 1) First, find a fabric that you like, and would feel nice against your skin. Cotton usually works the best because it is so soft. Also try to find something that is machine washable. 2)Fold the piece in half so that the side of it that you want to be the outside of your cover, is on the outside. 3) Take a spare bag, and trace around it leaving at least 3/4 of an inch all the way around. 4) Now leaving the fabric folded in half, cut out the shape that you have traced and either cut off all, or most of the "tail" part of the bag. When you are done this step, you should have 2 of the exact same shapes. 5) Now seperate the 2 pieces of fabric and take the piece that you want to be the back of your cover. Take the spare bag again, and place it right in the middle of the shape you have cut, and trace all the way around the tupperware-like seal. 6) Now with the part you have traced, draw another sircle around that so it is about 1/2 to 3/4 bigger than the original one. Then cut the circle out but be sure to start from the middle and do not cut into it from the outside edge. 7) Now take the 2 pieces of fabric again, and put them together matching up the edges as close as possible. make sure that the side that will be the outside of the fabric, is on the outside now. 8) Sew all the way around the outside edges now as close to the edge as possible but not too close that it will rip through. Warning: do not sew the bottom part of the bag, or any of the tail if you happened to leave any on. You have now completed your brand new bag cover! It might seem tricky to put it on, but you will get the hang of it in no time. To put it on, make sure your bag is empty. Start by feeding the bag tail first into the hole in the back of the cover. keep pushing it through until the whole thing is in the cover. Smooth out any wrinkles that are in the bag, or the fabric itself and you are ready to go. Note: you can also sew a small piece of velcro onto the cover so that it will stay folded up all the time!!! |
