BRING A RUG
This May marks the Philadelphia Oriental Rug Society’s 3rd anniversary. We are counting on an appropriate celebration in the late May/early
June timeframe. This
occassion will afford PORS members an opportunity to reflect our past successes, identify current challenges and charter future plans.
Our anniversary might also provide an opportunity to select PORS members’ rugs and bags to be exhibited at the 10th International Conference on Oriental Rugs. This ICOC will be held from April 17-21, 2003 in Washington, DC. ICOC X organizers are planning a special “rug societies” exhibition. Their basic plan is for individual ACOR rug clubs to display their most interesting material, selected by them. Plans are for each rug club to exhibit their pieces in a booth which, depending on the sizes chosen, may limit the number
exhibited. Space available will apparently afford the display of six or more rugs and bags at one time. Rug club costs for preparation of the space and lighting will be approximately $500. While at the exhibition, insurance will be covered under an ICOC blanket policy.
Clubs will be responsible for mounting their material and it is expected that club members will share time in monitoring the exhibit. To appear in the ICOC catalogue our selections need to be submitted by September 1st. PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR REACTION TO THIS OPPORTUNITY AND WHETHER YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN EXHIBITING A RUG AT ICOC X. George Trotman 215-985-0889
