Next Meeting: Annual Picnic Date!

 It’s time for our annual picnic of fun and get-together with plenty of food, good memories and your latest treasure or mystery rug. Here are some of the activities:

Food: Bring a specialty dish from a carpet weaving area to share with at least 2-4 fellow members. Members with last names starting from A - K can bring a main dish or salad and L-Z can bring a dessert.

We will provide the beverages, including: soft drinks, wine and beer.

If you can bring a blanket or a lawn chair or two, it will be more comfortable.

Silent Auction: We are inviting our members, dealers or not, to bring a few, rug- related books to auction to benefit our rug Society. Please mark in pencil, your name and the lowest amount the book should bring at the silent auction. The books will be displayed with a tag until 4 PM, the end of the silent auction. Each bidder will write his/her name with the next higher bid compared to the lowest amount and at 4:00 PM, the successful bidder writes a check or pay by cash the exact amount to our treasurer, Dr. Aron Fisher. Be generous with your donation and your bidding.

Show & Tell (At 4:30 PM): Share up to two of your treasures for the Show&Tell session. Be prepared to discuss what you know about your piece, why and how you acquired it.

Show & Tell II: I will share my recent visit to Romania and the Antique Ottoman Carpets from the 15^th - 19^th century including the famous fakes.

Videos: Two videos prepared over a span of over 10 years by Dr. Harold Bohmer will be shown: Nomads in Anatolia I and II: Sheep, Goats, Wool, Weaving and Felt Making.

Directions:

 

From Philadelphia and South:

Take I-95 North.

Exit at Newtown-Yardley (Exit 49). Turn left and follow Route 332 West for 8 traffic lights to Rt. 532. Be prepared to make a left turn onto 532 South by staying on the left lane. Go 2 traffic lights.  At the third light make a right-turn onto West Village Rd. Go 1/10 of a mile and make the first right turn onto Heather Valley Rd. Our house is the first one on the left. Total distance traveled from the Newtown exit is @ 5.2 miles.

 

FROM PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE:

Take exit 28 to US 1 North. Take I-95 North exit 49 to Newtown and follow directions as above.

 

FROM NEW JERSEY:

Take I-95 South to Pennsylvania to Newtown-Yardley exit No.49. Make a right turn to Route 332 West. Follow Route 332 West for 7 lights and continue as above.
