The Buan-Thorne Family
Latest News! (May 2004)
Ok.  So it hasn't been a whole year.  But it was close!  We are unofficially trying to enter ourselves into the guiness book or world records by being the moving-est family that's not in the military!  Let's see.  In college, I moved dorms/apartments 5 times in 4 years.  When we got married, we lived in Waukegan for 2 years, then lived in Des Plaines for 2 years.  Then Las Vegas for 7 months, and Crystal Lake, IL for 9 months.  Then Cary, IL for 9 months, and now McHenry, IL since November 2003.  Mom had to turnover a sold property, so she bought a single-family home in McHenry.  It's a 3 bed/ 2.5 bath house, with much more space than the apartment in Cary.  So the kids can run around like maniacs to their hearts content.
Billy in now 3 1/2 years old, and is loving the role as "kuya" or older brother.  Justin will be 17 months old on the 7th, and started walking about a month ago. Now he wants to run around with the big boys.  He's also starting to vocalize more, so it'll be even more mega-mania in this house with these two before I can blink.  At his 15 month appointment Justin hadn't started walking yet,  and his pediatrician was concerned at his gross motor and speech delay, so he was evaluated by some therapists.  Of course, by the time the evaluations were done, he was walking, and trying to string his consonants together like ba-ba, ma-ma and the like.  I'm convinced that his first word will be "balloon" because the boy is obsessed with them!  Every time we go into a store, there's always a balloon around, and he always points to them now, saying "ba-ba-ba."  Thanks to Meijer, he can get a balloon there for free every time we go.
In January, I started taking an online Medical Transcription Course, and there have been a few bumps in the studying road, like crashed computers and the like, but hopefully I'll be done with it by the end of the year.  Then I can earn my keep, and stay at home too!
We were thinking of having a garage sale, but I'm thinking that I'm losing my motivation for it.  At least not for a spring/summer sale.  Maybe fall?  Such a daunting task.
The kids and I are going back to playgroup that I first started going to when we lived in Des Plaines.  It's a much needed respite for moi, who gets tired of the toddler speak and noggin/nick jr. all day.
I'm thinking of changing the format for the text pages in our site, but haven't figured it out yet.  It may happen, it may not.  Just be glad I've written something new for the year 2004 :P.  It's already been along year... but we're still very blessed!  Hope all is well with all, and God Bless.

(September 2002)

Well, the stint in Las Vegas was a short, but long 7 months.  I am glad to be back home among family and friends, but it was hard leaving Nevada.  At least we missed most of the terrible desert summer heat.

It was too difficult to find a job out there, and settle into a life there at that time, and our circumstances convinced us it would be better to come back to Illinois.  We haven't given up on the dream to move out West though... it'll just have to be later, and when the time is right.  And at least we know that Las Vegas probably won't be the place that we'd be settling again.  Arizona, maybe???  Who knows...  the saga continues....

We came back in May 2002, and are living in Crystal Lake, IL.  Bill got a great job here and I am so proud of him.  So, I am still living the life of luxury as a stay-at-home mom for the time being, watching my little Billy get more and more terrible as he reaches two!

And, if I really haven't kept in touch, the newest news is that the Thorne family is expecting another addition around December 18, 2002.  Another boy, and I have no idea what we're going to name him!  So if anyone has any suggestions, we're open to them!!!

Anyway, I would love to hear from you, and find out how all my dear friends and family are doing.  And... I promise to get some new pics up on the site as soon as I can.  I hope we all can keep in touch!

Love to all, and God Bless!

(July 2003)

Okay, so if you haven't noticed, I'm not very proficient at updating our homepage.  If it weren't for Kuya Levi's link to this site in his homepage, I probably would have never found it again!  Anyway, even with the easy pagemakers on geocities, I almost forgot how to edit these darned things!  So enough excuses... it'll probably be another year before I update again!

Now for those of you who I haven't spoken with in ages.... In February 2003 we moved away from my mom's nest to nearby Cary, Il.  We are now living in a cozy 2 bedroom apartment, living a quietly noisy life with the kids.  And YES... the baby was born Decemer 7, 2002 (thankfully we do no have an elephant's gestation period), and we named him Justin Paul Thorne.  It took us a couple of days to decide his name, but we did leave the hospital with a fully completed birth certificate application filled out!  He looks more like mama, and a lot like Lolo Joe, but I wish I had pics of my dad when he was a baby to prove it.  It's a good thing he came along, if not only for the purpose to prove that William (Billy) looks a lot like his father :P  We love them loads, and they drive us crazy.... But I think that's one reason why God made babies so cute and loveable - you can't stay mad at them for long...hahaha.
Justin's first tooth popped up on July 1, and since about the 6th, he's been able to sit by himself for an extended period of time.  So that means it's all downhill from here.  Now if only I can get him to sleep on his own, and sleep through the night!!  Why do we have 2 terrible sleepers, when mama and daddy like sleep so much??? We'll never know.  So, that's us in a crazy nutshell for now.  Let's hope I don't forget how to update again, or not wait another year.
