My taste in food has changed again. I'm back to hating yogurt. Of course, since I just stocked up on it, I don't like it anymore! Oh well. I'm so hungry all the time. My tummy rumbles, and if I don't eat right away I start to feel sick. I have to eat small meals and snacks every couple of hours. This pregnancy is so different for me. Usually at this time I don't want to eat anything, now this time I have to eat everything. Weird.
Time is flying. I can't believe it's been a month since I found out I was pregnant. Part of me is excited that it is happening so fast because it means that soon I'll get to meet this little baby and the baby will be able to meet his/her parents. But then the other part of me wants time to slow down a little because I only get a few months to be with this baby everyday and soon that will be over. I'm sure that's how most surrogate mothers feel.
I'm still feeling really good. I can't believe that I'm 8 weeks pregnant and still have no morning sickness at all! I've been really lucky so far. My only complaint so far is my seasonal allergies are kicking in. I phoned the pharmacist to see if I could take a Claritin or something else, but he said definitely not! Antihistamines are not safe to take until after the first trimester. So another 5 weeks or so and then I can take something!
I'm 8 weeks pregnant today.

I'm back from my first prenatal appointment. It went great. I'm really happy with my doctor. She thinks that the surrogacy is great and seems really excited about it too. It's definitely a load off my mind knowing that my doctor is supportive.
My blood pressure is fine, I'm measuring about right for my dates, and everything else looks normal too. I still have to go to the lab for bloodwork, but of course I know all of that will be fine too.
I had one embarrassing moment while checking into the office though. Since it was my first time there, the receptionist had to ask me some questions so she could fill out the paperwork. First she asked my name "Brandy D...." then my maiden name "K....." Are you still married? "Yes" and the baby's father's name is "Doug C..." She looked at me really funny. I guess it looked like I cheated on my husband or something. I was really embarrassed but didn't feel like explaining the whole situation to the receptionist. Then she asked "What is Doug's birthdate" and I had to answer "I have no idea!" Then I started to giggle. First I look like I cheat on my husband, then I look like I don't even know who I'm cheating with!!! She must have thought I was insane. It was pretty funny.
I'm 8 weeks 4 days pregnant.

Yesterday the doctor's office gave me a big package of information to look through. It was mostly stuff on the stages of pregnanct and parenting stuff. The thing that caught my eye was a form for donating cord blood. I didn't think my hospital would do this because we are in such a small city. But they do and all I have to do is fill out the form and send it in before 34 weeks and that's it. They take the blood from the cord after the baby and I are both seperated from it. It hurts no one, and otherwise this blood would go to waste. The donated blood has stem cells in it, and is mostly used for children who need marrow transplants. The success rates are very good. It seems like such a simple thing I can do, and it could save someone's life.
I'm probably going to have to buy some maternity clothes next week. Even my biggest pants are getting really tight. I don't want to buy too many things now because the things I buy will only last through the summer. I'll have to buy winter clothes for when I get really big. According to my newsletter, the baby is now the size of a cherry.
I'm 8 weeks 5 days pregnant.
