SOEHARTO
SNUBS
COURT
JAKARTA THURSDAY: Disgraced
former Indonesian President Soeharto failed to appear in a special court
set up in the Agricultural Department Building theatrette. The South Jakarta
Court being too small to accommodate the expected crowd of observers.
The presidents lawyers presented evidence from “independent” doctors that
Soeharto was too ill to appear. The panel of 8 judges ordered a new
check on his health and an adjournment for 2 weeks for the examination
to be completed. If Soeharto refuses to appear again, the court has the
option of progressing with the trial without him or taking the court
to Soeharto’s residence on Jalan Cedana. Soeharto is accused of using moneys
donated by the people to foundations for his and his associates use. President
Abdurrahman Wahid, has offered a full pardon to Soeharto if convicted,
providing he gives all the money back. |

| JAKARTA (TP):
20-year old Muslim cleric on the East Java island of Madura has won admiration
and envy after he married four teenagers in a sameday wedding party. The
lucky man, Syamsudin of Bankalan town, held a lavish party for four consecutive
days where relatives and friends were treated with traditional dances,
dangdut, an out-door film and mass prayers. The wedding party was thrown
after Syamsudin spent 20 days following the administrative procedures with
the Religious Affairs Office and other related |
state agencies.
All four brides slept in the same room prior to the wedding party and no
quarrel had been reported. On the wedding day, the brides flanked Syamsudin
two on his right and two on his left for a photo session. Syamsudin, a
dropout of an Islamic boarding school, is a cleric serving exconvicts and
is highly respected in this segment of the community. None of his wives
have reached 18 the legal age under Indonesian law two of them are only
15 and the other two 14. "I hope Syamsudiri can treat all his wives equally,"

POOR GUS
(again!)
JAKARTA: Indonesian President
Abdurraham Wahid is embroiled in a new scandal after a compromising photo-
graph supposedly taken 5 years ago was circulated through the capital and
on the internet. The government responded saying the photo was a fake,
probably from the KHO art department. |
Autobiography, Tommy Tycho “Music,
Maestro Please” 1995 Source - Salvation Army Op Shop. Tommy Tycho was born
in Budapest , Hungary of Jewish decent. He was a child prodigy and could
play the piano at a very young age.
TOMMY AND HIS SISTER
Sent to labour camps during
the Nazi regime, his love of music carried him through to survive. After
the war he fled Hungary to Iran where he played in a small band often for
the Shah of Iran. He migrated to Australia working for 2 years as a storeman
in David Jones, Sydney often sneaking out of work, with the help of his
workmates, to play afternoon concerts with the ABC. As well as his personal
story he tells of the early days of television in Sydney
WITH PETER ALLEN
WITH JULIE ANTHONEY
& BARRY CROCKER
And his association with many
big stars. He became good friends with Jack Benny, Jerry Lewis, Mal Torme
and Henri Mancini. Whilst admiring Frank Sinatra as a singer, he finds
it hard to speak kindly of the man.
WITH PRINCE CHARLES
WITH PETER FAIMAN &
QEII
In the final chapters after
heart surgery from Victor Chang he laments where modern music is going
today. Basically he says it is all crap. He says Michael Jackson cannot
sing to save himself. I even dispute the integrity of the Beatles, I cannot
believe those 4 boys wrote all the compositions they claim to have written.
When you look at the musical style, there are 2 or 3 songs they could never
have written. Songs like Yesterday, Michelle and Norwegian Wood and I doubt
they were written by someone who did not have a sound, professional trained
musical background. Not in a hundred years! Tommy says in his book he has
no ego, but one senses in the writing, not so deep down there is. |
