RADIO AUSTRALIA
RESTARTS BROADCASTS FROM DARWIN
MELBOURNE TUESDAY MAY 15: Radio Australia will begin broadcasts again from transmitters near Darwin for the first time in several years. The Federal Government shut down the transmitters on the Cox Peninsular as a cost cutting measure and listeners in Asia then had difficulty in picking up any Radio Australia Signal. The transmitters were sold to the British based evangelical broadcaster Christian Voice. Radio Australia has now negotiated access to the transmitters. Radio Australia says the new service will offer an extra 7 hours programming a day in English and Indonesian.
