IAN DAVEY & FRIENDS VISIT THE KHO
| BALI Sun Aug 5- Ian Davey
and his 2 friends from Melbourne, Peter & Elizabeth Rintel, arrived
3.07pm at Nurah Rai airport Bali on Garuda flight GA 725 direct from Melbourne,
Australia. They were met by John & Deni from the KHO and transported
in the KHO jeep to the KHO. Ian stayed in the newly renovated KHO guest
room whilst Peter and Liz were accommodated at the luxury Bali Ayu Hotel
near the KHO. |

| That night they attended a Bali
Feast dinner at Warung Sobat in Batu Belig. They said they loved the food
there. Monday was spent relaxing after breakfast at Melody’s Purnama
restaurant. Lunch at the Globe Cafe in Umalas, |
| a tour of local hardware
and plumbing shops for Peter, then cocktails at our friend Ines’ house
in Petitenget then on to Warung Sobat for dinner with the entire KHO gang.

| the guests were taken to Jalan Gaja
Mada in Denpasar, where after lunch in a local Chinese restaurant the group
toured the Denpasar Market. Coctails at The Beach Cafe on Batu Belig beach
and then on to Sante Fe restaurant in Seminyak. Our friends Andi and Ines
joined us. Wednesday breakfast as usual at Melody’s, morning tea
at the KHO and on to “No Name” cafe for lunch. The evening was spent at
Melody’s Purnama restaurant where the guests took part in John & Jamal’s,
Lucky Draw Show. Thursday after breakfast the group assembled at
the KHO for their departure by air to Lombok, where they were met by our
friend Amang. Amang checked them in to the Wisata Hotel in Ampenan. After
a tour of the Ampenan area, dinner was at the Cirebon Restaurant. Friday,
the group traveled to Gili Trawangan Isl on the NW coast of Lombok, where
they spent the night. Saturday, return from Gili and lunch at Dino’s,
Ian reports that Dino’s restaurant is up and running now in Ampenan and
the food is excellent. The afternoon flight back to Bali and dinner at
Warung Sobat. Sunday, breakfast at the Melody’s, afternoon to Cangu
beach, dinner again at Warung Sobat enjoying Bebek Bututu (charcoal road
duck) Monday, off to Galaria Mall, for last minute shopping, farewell
Dinner at Sobat before the 11pm flight to Melbourne. |

DADAN ARRIVES
| Jamal’s youngest brother
Dadan (27) arrived in Bali Monday night (Aug 13) to stay at the KHO
He will stay for John’s birthday on Aug. 28. Dadan lives in Bandung, West
Java about 1000km from the KHO, 24hrs by express bus. Dadan plays guitar
and currently loves the group Limp Biscuit. Yes, the hair is blue. |

KHO GUEST ROOM RENOVATED
BALI: At a cost of over 6
million rupiah, the guest room at the KHO has just received a 10 day renovation.
The room now has wood panel ceilings and walls, new wall lights and reading
light with dimmer an Air conditioner a new ceiling fan and a full paint
job. Working on the project John, Deni & Asep.

NANCE PLAQUE AT SOBAT
During John’s mum Nance’s visit to Bali
in May, Pak Made (pronounced Mar-day) made this special plaque in cement,
covering the drain in front of Warung Sobat restaurant to commemorate her
visit to Bali in 2001. Many tourists stop in wonderment and ask “Who is
Nancy?” |
DENNY -GONE TO THE DOGS?
During his recent visit to South Africa
