CONCORDE CRASH
According to Flight magazine, the Concorde crash in France was caused by the disintegration of the Water Deflector or “Cow Catcher” installed just ahead of each leading undercarriage  wheel. Due to previous incidents with the "Cow Catcher" BA had modified their fleet. Air France had not. Also pieces of metal and a 4" rod were found on the runway, these were not from Concorde. The investigation continues.

THE COW CATCHER

CONCORDE JOKES
from BEAR
The European Commission have met and declared that Concorde's impeccable safety record will stand..... The hotel was in the wrong. ... So many German tourists. So few Concordes........ Air France have just introduced a new express service for their premium travellers which guarantees you can be off your plane and in your hotel in all of two minutes..... Did you hear that one of the Concorde
pilots asked the other if he was going home after his shift. He said no, he was just going to crash at the hotel... Affluent German tourists choose to fly Concorde. They'd not be seen dead on anything else... The French Killed more Germans on Tuesday than in 2 world wars..... Overheard at the Hotelissimo, Gronesse: "Waiter! There's a Concorde in my soup.".... Why is Concorde such good value for money? You get the hotel thrown in.
INDONESIAN MPR MEETING
The Supreme Assembly of  Indonesia known as the MPR met last week in Jakarta. The MPR meets annually to review the performance of the government. The President Abdurrahman Wahid was criticized for his poor performance in leading the country out of the economic crisis. The MPR agreed to relieving the President of the day to day running of government which will be lead by Megawati. A new cabinet will be formed. There were concerns that there would be rioting during the meeting however all went successfully.

TANPA NAMA "NO NAME" CAFÉ’ and BAR.
The restaurant has only been operating for 3 months and is run by Peter from Australia and his friendly Indonesian Chinese wife “Liani” Peter and Liani both have a hospitality industry background. The restaurant is well patronized by  Expats, locals and the occasional tourist. The décor is kitsch with a nice bar and an interesting collection of international car number plates. The tables are reproduction timber and marble and available for purchase.  Peter is fastidious about cleanliness and always assures the customers that only bottled aqua is used in the kitchen. Our inspection revealed an clean kitchen and toilets. The menu is simple and definitely a “cheap eat.”  The food is primarily Chinese however there is a Western menu with some interesting dishes. Baked Beans and Bacon on “Yummy” toast, with imported Meadow Lea. Bacon and Eggs any style, plate of imported  American Peas, Chips and Mashed Potato. For desert home made Apple Pie with ice cream. The Chinese menu features Chicken, Calamari, Prawns noodles and rice, all with various sauces.  The crab and asparagus soup is to die for, the bowl is enough for 2 or 3 to share.  They even have fried rice Hong Kong style a nice change from Nasi Goreng. Sunday lunch is a not miss event with  Roast Lamb, mint sauce, baked vegetables and peas. The food is delicious and you would pay many times more in a tourist restaurant. Other services available, Internet, Fax, Pay phone and satellite Tv. Daily and weekly English papers available. Main course prices start at Rp7,500, large chilled beer also Rp7,500. An average meal for 2 including a large beer will cost around $50,000. The food is good and cheap. The atmosphere is always interesting, seems a few of Dorothy’s poorer friends have discovered the establishment.  “No Name” Cafe and Bar is at Jalan Raya Kerobokan No 6 Kuta Bali. Look for the flashing bud lights on the right just after Petitenget.  KHO rating **** (Exchange rate $1=Rp5,000 Aug. 10)

Their main story was about those two guys in the UK that brought those twins from the USA. They actually met a service station when the one asked the other for directions They came from working class backgrounds and have been successful businessmen. The entire families of both guys still live in council estates and they are all just so supportive. It was such a lovely story and I just wish John Howard would watch it. TRENTON.... I have bought a new car the old one blew up again going down the free way so it was off to the tip. I now have a you bruit yout with a  canopy on the back I thought f... it I best buy a good car for a change it cost 6.000 and its on gas. DENNY...."What did the fish say when it hit it's head against the wall?"   Dam!   Got my car back and it is like new inside. BRADLEY IN JAKARTA....We had a house- keeper for four days until we discovered she was pilfering fabric softener, and sambal and substituting the furniture polish for tea. She was absolutely diabolical. She took light globes from their sockets would you believe. We suspect also that she was washing my business shirts without laundry powder and pilfering it as well. GEOFF WHITE....I DO like the HTML newsletter, It is so much more readable than the old way.  Thankyou for my quote, I was feeling neglected without a mention in the KHO News. The Queen Mum must have been envious of Nance with the freedom to travel in places such as Lombok and Ampenan and Bali and Kuta and suchlike!   GEORGE IN MELB....Its also great to know that you are living the way that all retired superstars should getting drunk regularly and lapping up the sunshine surrounded by beautiful boys and girls. SEI IN OSAKA....hi darrring. how have you been doing? here is too hot for me. l  dont like it,  anyway, now l am trying to find a job after graduating my university. however, l am not such a serious boy, as you know, that l am not engaging my energy into it. hmmmm,if l could not find a job, can you hire me as your maid?? haahah. l can make some japanese dishes, I might kill you if you eat it. hahah

SEI'S NEW HAIRSTYLE
Sunday Nance telephoned as usual to complain about the content of the KHO News. Monday we went to a party at David Allen’s Villa Asoka, his brother and family had just arrived from Australia. The authentic Indonesia food cooked by Ibu Made was excellent. David treated us all with some beautiful Australian Hermitage. Wednesday the Party Night gig again, good crowd. Had some fun with a Japanese honey moon couple. They didn’t understand a word but laughed so much. Maybe Jamal and I should take the show to Osaka. Best start in a smaller city.  Friday took an English Indian honey moon couple who are staying at Bali Intan Village to “No Name” restaurant. They loved it could not believe the quality for the low price.
