4/10/05 - The racing season officially began for us on Saturday. Although it wasn't with the road racing. Mom and dad are teaming up this season with uncle, Kevin Wenzel in co-driving his VW Scirocco in Solo2. Solo2 is the form of racing also known as autocrossing where drivers run a course on a parking lot made of cones and race the clock one at a time. Even though mom and dad are fairly new to Solo2 competition, they took to it very quickly. They had run a few events earlier this year to gain experience, but Saturday was the beginning of the summer season. Once again it turned out very well. Dad and Kevin both run the car in X class, which is pretty much made up of the best of the best. Mom runs the car in the W class or Womens class. The drivers are given 4 runs (only the first 3 count towards results). So Kevin won X class and dad got 3rd, while mom dominated the womens class getting 1st of 14! So a good start to the season! Our first road race will be La Junta coming up Apr. 30.
