In Explanatory notes (a disclaimer of sorts; see "Text from Original Register") in the 1869 Register, the Hollywood Memorial Association acknowledges the high likelihood of errors in their effort even though they tried to be as accurate as possible. Please keep in mind that their register was compiled from records as they existed prior to 1869. As such it is a secondary source. The data base I have prepared is simply a careful attempt to reproduce their effort. As such it is a tertiary source. Any errors I've made are layered on top of those in the 1869 Register. I have proof read the data base twice in its entirety to minimize the problem, but be aware that it exists. As I have discovered apparent errors in the 1869 register, these have been noted in the "Editorial notes" column. Most readily apparent are burial dates in 1832 and 1854 as well as dates such as April 31 and September 31. |
