ARTICLE 1. The style of the Association shall be the HOLLYWOOD MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION OF RICHMOND.
ARTICLE 2. The Officers of the Association shall be one President, seven Vice Presidents, a Board of Managers, forty or more, one Treasurer, one Recording Secretary, and one Corresponding Secretary.
ARTICLE 3. The President and Vice Presidents shall be ex officio Managers. At all meetings of the Society, the President, or in her absence one of the Vice Presidents, shall preside. If neither are present, a Manager may fill the place.
ARTICLE 4. The object and business of the Society will be to take suitable measures for the protection of the graves of Confederate soldiers, who lie buried near Richmond, and to erect such memorials over or near them as the Society may deem most proper.
ARTICLE 5. The Managers may adopt such by-laws as they deem necessary.
ARTICLE 6. The Society shall meet at such times and places as the Managers may determine upon.
ARTICLE 7. Every person of good character, properly vouched for, who shall contribute fifty cents to the treasury, shell be a member of the Society for six months. Every person who shall pay one dollar, shall be a member for one year, and every person who shall pay ten dollars shall be a member for life, which shall be expressed in the receipts given by the Treasurer.
ARTICLE 8. The Recording Secretary shall keep a book, in which all the proceedings of the Society shall be fairly recorded and signed by the President, or other officer presiding; also a book in which the names of all the members shall be recorded.
ARTICLE 9. The Managers may appoint Assistant Secretaries and Treasurer, and may appoint a gentleman to fill any office, except those of President, or Vice President, which shall always be filled by ladies.
ARTICLE 10. The Corresponding Secretary will answer all letters and business communications; and answer any demands upon her pen made by the President. |
