Taking Galveston By Storm
Updated 6/13/01

Patrick, Kathy, and Hunter took off for their summer vacation to Galveston.  Coincidentally, Tropical Storm Allison also decided to take a vacation on Galveston Island that same week.  They managed to have a very enjoyable time, nonetheless.  In fact, a certain someone was very excited about the whole adventure.
That certain someone also found that one of the most memorable parts of the trip was having to climb up a ladder to sleep in the upper bunk.
When the warm waters of the gulf are calling, there's no time to waste.  You have to grab your beach gear and go.
Ah, the joy of smelling the salt air and taking that first step into the surf.......
....followed by an exhilarating run along the beach.
It sure is fun when Dad carries you on his back out into the deep water right where the waves start to break.
Knowing that those waves can sneak up on a person, however, it can be very reassuring when Mom holds
your hand.
This year the body board, next year the surf board.
Of course there are other things you can do at the beach - like catch fish......
.....and build sand castles.
Here's a photo for the cover of Field and Stream magazine.
Then, there's all that interesting marine life to see.
A round of miniature golf is a welcome addition to the itinerary.
Although the wave action leaves a little to be desired, the swimming pool is a nice break from the salt water.  This was so much fun, it's time to start planning next year's trip!
