| Just a note, from the October Gallery Show THANKS to all who showed, it turned out to be a wonderful reception at the Caf Tartinefull of food, soda and wine. Of the two, out of the four photographers, which showed at the Caf, we had a good turn out. The ads in the three papers placed by Lester Marks, fliers I placed at a few local galleries, personal phone calls, by all and invitations I left at the GLBT Center, made for a great time, with models, friends (new and old) and family. Thanks to all that had the free time, on a Friday night in the city. I look forward to more shows as Reflecting Images. (On a sad note) Out of all the photographers, that showed at this time, I wish to express my warmest thanks and my concern over all the trouble that happened over Lester Marks wonderful B/W photos that he spend so much time and energy in producing for the showOnly he was asked, by the owner of Caf Tartine, to take down his work, out of the 4 of us that did the show. The work came down and was re-hung for the reception on 10/15/04. Im telling you all this because I believe we all need to be aware of the fact that even here, in San Francisco, there are people that are narrow-minded, scary, dangerous and so backwards that they can still inflict their beliefs onto the private and the business community. The Caf received threats from some of the locals that use the Caf. On Saturday, 10/23/04, after receiving several anonymous phone calls expressing anger over the nudes in the Caf, two black females came into the caf and threaded the staff over them showing such immoral work. They demanded the work to be taken down immediately or they would come back and start doing damage to the cafMark, the owner of the Caf, told me that last year his windows were busted out from other threats he had received from other unhappy people. He could not afford to have any more trouble repeated, sothe work came down. Im truly sorry for thisI had hoped that we had grown out of this type of cruel behavior. So, for what its worthTHANK YOU Lester and Im truly sorry for this mishap. |
