| PAINT WAS SO OXIDIZED THE CAR WAS PINK WHEN I BROUGHT IT HOME. LIQUID POLISHING COMPOUND AND A PNEUMATIC POLISHER, WITH A GOOD WOOL PAD, DID WONDERS. THE WHOLE GARAGE FLOOR WAS COVERED WITH PINK DUST. |
| CAME WITH THE 8 SPOKE WHEELS SO I BLASTED AND PAINTED THE SPOKES AND POLISHED THE ALUMINUM. CAME OUT PRETTY NICE. |
| HAD A COUPLE OF SMALL DENTS ON THE NOSE BUT SURPRISINGLY NO SIGN OF MAJOR DAMAGE. FIRST GHIA I'VE SEEN THAT DIDN'T SHOW EVIDENCE OF A MAJOR SMACK IN THE NOSE. ALSO REPLACED THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOW RUBBER. |
| FOUND A REALLY NICE ORIGINAL KARMANN GHIA SCRIPT AT THE POMONA SWAP AND COULDN'T RESIST. THERE GOES ANOTHER $40. |
| RESCUED THIS GHIA FROM THE FRONT OF A GUYS HOUSE WHERE IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 3+ YEARS. ACTUALLY DROVE IT HOME. HARD TO BELIEVE. THE GAS TANK WAS SO RUSTY NOTHING RAN OUT WHEN I CUT THE FUEL LINE UNDER THE TANK. NO WONDER IT WAS HESITATING AWAY FROM THE LIGHTS. |
| THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ROUGH. ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE UNDER THE BATTERY AND THE ENGINE SEAL CHANNEL WAS MISSING. CUT IT ALL OUT AND WELDED IN NEW METAL. FABRICATED MY OWN ENGINE SEAL CHANNEL AND POP RIVETED IN. DEFINITELY NOT OEM BUT CAME OUT PRETTY NICE. I REBUILT THE TOP END, HEADS THAT CAME OFF THE 65, AND CARB (31 PICT). SHE WAS RUNNING SWEET WHEN SHE WENT TO HER NEW HOME. |
