Rules for the District Tournament.  Boulder Creek Stake Rules in Black.  Red is addition for District.
AIA Basketball rules in effect.  NHSA rulebooks applicable.
1) If boys are finished with their school basketball season (JV or lower only, no Varsity), they are allowed to play church ball only
after school season.  Varsity players are not allowed at any time and JV or lower are only allowed after their season is finished.
Coaches must play everyone fairly on the team and allow equal time as much as possible. - For District, we want to keep this rule in effect.
2) For tournament play, all players must be living in the ward boundaries and rosters must reflect this. - What we'll want for this is to have
all boys on the team write their name, address, phone number, birth date, age, and signature on a piece of paper(if you don't have a roster),
and signed by the Bishop(s) as clearance to play.  If there are 2 or more Wards combined, we would need the same roster with all Bishop's signatures
3) We encourage Bishops to involve fathers in the YM sports program.  Make sure all fathers receive a copy of the schedule -
with a special invitation to attend all their games.  We strongly encourage non-member play along with their parents also.
4) Player eligibility is up to the Bishops, but we are strongly encouraging that young men members of the church be eligible
to play if they have attended at least 50% of their mutual activities each month. Non-members can play but must follow
the same guidelines and attend 50% of either mutual night activities or Sunday meetings. Ultimately, it's up to the Bishop.
For NM, we need to have them fill out the roster and need to be cleared by the Bishop(s).  No going out of the boundaries,
unless there is evidence that fellowshipping is there.
5) We want the sports program to enhance the regular YM program not be the YM program.  Practices should be held other
times than during Mutual night activities.
6) A Priesthood leader other than the coach will attend all games and be on the bench with the team.  We suggest a member
of the Bishopric or an advisor. - Again, this should apply in our tournament.  Stake YM presidencyor multiple leaders can help with this.
7) Games will have two 16 minutes halves with the clock stopping to shoot the fouls, for time outs and the last 2 minutes
of the game at each whistle.  Each team will have a total of 4 timeouts, 2 per half.  This year, teams can roll over
only 1 timeout fm first half to second half if both or 1 timeouts not used in first half. - We would like to keep these rules unless there is an objection.
We will shoot on shooting fouls, not an automatic 1 point, like some Stakes do it.
8) Games will start on time. Game time is forfeit time.  Also, no jewelry, do-rags, plastic bracelets etc… will be worn during games.
9) Team may start with 4 players otherwise the game is forfeited.
10) No profanity will be allowed or tolerated.  There will be an automatic ejection of a player from the game the first time he swears;
there will be no warnings.  Fighting constitutes expulsion for the season.
11) If a player gets two technical fouls in one game, he is out of the game and will be allowed to return to play in the future games only
after an interview with his bishop and stake leader.  If one technical, player sits out of game a mandatory 4 minutes. This will apply in this tourny.
12) 18 year olds can choose to play on the men’s team but cannot play on both the YM and Men team.  They must choose
one or the other at the beginning of the season. - If the boy is 19, he is not allowed to play in this tournament.  If he is 18,
then we invite him to play as long as he did not play Varsity B-ball this year.  If he is a graduated 18 year old and did play Varsity B-ball in the past,
we are allowing him to play.  The key is he has to be 18 and rosters need to reflect this.
13) Age limits are 14-18 with no one 19 yrs old playing no matter when their birth is. 12-13 years old can play if your ward does
not have enough to field a team without them. - Should be Teachers & Priests, but if Deacons are needed, please offer.
14) All games will have stake called officials and no game will be played without them. - We are asking each stake to have 2 volunteers,
possibly 1 to ref, and another to run the clock/scorekeeping at their game.  This is important.
15) All games will start and end with prayer.
****Also, we would want each team to have numbered b-ball uniforms(hopefully numbers on back and front of jersey), and that each participant wear shorts.  No pants.
No one team will play more than 3 games in one day due to health reasons.  Max is 3 games.
The Bishop is the one or the ones who need to clear players for playing.
Thanks,
