Game Analysis

12:00 PM            Highland Groves 56                          Meadows 48

This is a big step for the Highland Groves Basketball Program.  They have made a huge statement with this upset win over the Meadows Dynasty.  The only loses that Meadows suffered in Boulder Creek Stake League Play were two loses to Highland Ranch in last year’s championship game.  Highland Groves has proved by defeating them that they are a legitimate threat to the top teams in the league this year.  Scott Halbert and Jeremy G. held the fort inside for Highland Groves, scoring 24 and 18 respectively.  They both had great games, and were huge contributions to this winning effort.  The game was close, being tied with 2 minutes left, then Highland Groves pulled away to hand Meadows an almost unheard of loss.  I could go on and on about this game.  There cannot be enough said about this win for Highland Groves.  It was a great win and it came over a good team.  Watch out for Highland Groves.

1:00 PM            Highland Ranch 58                          Sossaman/Hawes 22

Not much to say here.  Highland Ranch was picked to win, and they won big.  They showed that they are a good team, and mabey better than some thought.  But Jared H. announced that the will probably choose to play for the men’s team this year, and that takes away a great weapon from this team’s threats.  Others will have to step up in this line up to fill in for him.  One excellent play worth noting was in the second half of this game, when Eli W. through the ball off of the square to brother Ty W., who one-handedly

Slammed down the put back dunk.  It was outstanding play, and hopefully we’ll see more of it from Highland Ranch this year.

2:00 PM            Boulder Creek            Not reported            Eastridge

This result was not reported, but it was rumored that it was a close game.

3:00 PM            Highland 33                           Monterey 32

A very close game that resulted in an upset that was not predicted.  One of the factors for this upset is that Jake P. did end up playing.  Apparently he will be playing this year.  That throws off my predictions.  Highland will be better that first thought if they have Jake P. playing for them.  Watch for them to make some noise.  One injury note from this game.  Isaac M. of the Monterey Ward was flipped while battling for a ball, and broke his wrist.  This will require a minimum of 6-8 weeks to heal.  He may not be back until the play offs.  Trent L., Andrew P., and Chandler L.  came up just short of carrying the Monterey Ward to a win.
