2007-2008 Regular Season Predictions

The Boulder Creek Stake Young Men’s Basketball 2007-2008 Season promises to be fun, exciting, exhillerating, and filled with action.  Here’s the standings that I predict at the end of this season:

  1. Highland Ranch-  If everyone that is rumored to play for Highland Ranch comes out, I see them doing very well.  They would have an abundance of talent and many options on offense.  If both of the West Brothers play this year, then that is a huge asset to their teams chemistry.  They know how to play together very well, and with E. West playing guard and T. West playing inside, that would make for a perfect match.  This will make a great foundation to build on for the team’s chemistry, especially on defense.  If all of the rumored players are there and healthy, I see this team doing very well.

  1. Monterey-  A surprise pick of mine, placing them above Meadows this year.  I see talent on this team this year.  They have weapons on the perimeter, and inside.  Andrew P. will be huge this year for them at point guard.  He can drive and shoot, making him double as dangerous for defenders.  Trent L. should be a main inside presence for this team. It is rumored that Brain D. is a new recruit this year. If he comes out, I see him being a huge player for this team. He should get a lot of points inside, and he should also provide good inside defense and get rebounds.  I see those three players accounting for many of the looks this year.  They should be the heart of this team this year. Monterey has worked hard over the off-season, look for a good team.

  1. Highland Groves-  This is my sleeper pick.  I see a lot of determined talent developed in the off-season for this team.  They have several weapons, and they have worked hard in the off-season to improve.  They also have experience this year.  Last year was the first year of church ball for several of their players, and this year they bring experience to the table.  I see Scott H, Travis T., and Jeremy G.  being some of the main targets on the offensive end of the ball.  If Colton Z.  plays this year, that brings even more talent to the table, and I think it put them higher in the rankings.  Watch out for this team.  They are determined, and their desire and will power should carry them far this year.  They want it.

  1. Meadows-  They have two great weapons this year.  Tyler L. and Andrew P. should be leading this team this year with a lot of experience.  Both are veterans of the BC Stake YM League, and their experience should help pull this team this year.  I see them being the two players that carry this team this year.  They lost a lot of talent with the leaving players last year.  New commitment Alex H. may provide some help on defense as well.  Once the play-offs come, they add a couple of school players, and I see them doing well in the tournament because of it, but in the regular season, I only see two main weapons.

  1. Highland-  Highland has a couple of weapons that I think puts them ahead of the bottom three this year.  I look to Nate A. and Andrew to be main offensive threats and sharing a good portion of this teams points over the season.  The loss of Jake P. could hurt, but experience and those two offensive threats puts them in fifth.

  1. Sossaman/Hawes-  With the addition of the Hawes Ward, I see this team having an offense that will be able to score, and defense that could win games.  The loss of Chris will be huge, but I think that this team will be able to win games.

  1. Eastridge-  This is another surprise pick.  I see Eastridge having experience and weapons this year.  I see Blake D.  carrying this team, and I think that they have what it take to win this year.

  1. Boulder Creek-  Graduated players hurt this team going from last year to this year.  With the loss of their veteran point guard, others will have to step up and carry this offense.  However, once this team gets into tournament play, I see them getting better with school player additions.
