The Martha Reid Silver Confederate Memorial Association was created as an independent auxiliary to support our sponsoring SCV Camp, the Colonel John B. Palmer Camp 1946, Sons of Confederate Veterans. Membership is open to all females regardless of race or age, and no proof of lineage is required.
One of our organization’s many ongoing projects is to provide grave markers for the wives of local Confederate veterans, so that their sacrifices are not lost with time. Members may participate in CMA sponsored cookouts, picnics, the annual member appreciation dinner, and the annual Christmas banquet. Children are also welcome to participate in all meetings and functions.
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30PM, Burnsville Town Center, Burnsville, North Carolina. Anyone interested in supporting their Southern Heritage is invited to attend. Refreshments are provided.
The Martha Reid Silver Confederate Memorial Association is currently accepting new members. For more information and/or to request an application form, please contact Recruiting Officer Lavonia Buchanan at (828) 675-5960.
