These bears were started at the 2000 fall campout from a basswood rough out furnished by Charles Adams. I don't like carving a cut end on logs, so I added the sleeping bear inside. He was a lot easier to carve. It is mounted on a Walnut base. The fir burning is the "Y shape" style taught by Debbie Edwards. The burning covers less than 10% of the surface, giving a good representation of fir. Wood Burning also produces a very realistic bark on the Hickory log which was burned dark and deep. It is finished in acrylics, covered with an antiquing solution, and finished with three coats of Deft Wood Sealer, bagged between coats.
