the MARX molds
This page will be an excercise into the idiosyncrasy of the Marx dinosaurs. The mold groups are already  known and well documented, so I plan to focus on some of the tell tale mold marks that define each grouping .....

The set I have to review is a classic and in near mint condition, with some of the rarer colors too.

PL-750 MOLD GROUP

The link on the home page ( The MARX Molds , right column ) shows a scan of the runner system of the PL-750 mold group. Shown is the front/sprue side which has the names stamped near the tail, except the Allosaur which has it's name on the opposite side, and the Pteranodon which has it's name
and length on the opposite mold half.
The dark green color of the plastic is because this group is a recent recast, but the mold cavities themselves have not changed much since the 1950's.

There is only one pin mark observed on each figure; the tail area near the length lettering, about 1/4 inch wide, that conformed to the shape of that figure.

The List ::

Allosaurus  --  base of tail, below
name

Hadrosaur  --  base of tail,
length side

Trachodon  --  base if tail, above
length

Pteranodon  --  underside of right wing,
name and length (wing spread )

~~~~~~~~
Ankylosaur  --  no body pin mark: 1 large-shallow pin  mark on bottom of foot
Stegosaur  --  no body pin mark: 3 small and 1 large pin mark on bottoms of feet
