Here's Alina and Ksenya holding one of the sunflowers their mother, Nina, picked during our evening of swimming in Muellerovna, Russia (about 5 hours by bus north of Rostov). Had a wonderful time with their family but it was too short - less than 18 hours. |

Here is the entire family. They were wonderful hosts and about a week later, when Scott and I took the train away from Rostov for the last time, Nina and the girls and a cousin waited for our train to come through their town (around 11:00 p.m.) with a bag of wonderful food and a long stem red rose for us. Scott had stayed up two nights in a row so was asleep in the coupe but I waited and watched as we came into the station and saw them on the platform. The conductor of our wagon hadn't opened the door because we weren't expecting anyone to board or get off so when she saw them she asked them what they wanted and they cried out "Judy!!" So I leaned out of the train (since she didn't drop down the steps) and got hugs and kisses from Katya, Ksenya, and Nina (Alina had been in Rostov at the station just a few hours earlier to see us off there). Another bitter sweet experience. |

Here are Lilit, Irina, Irina, ARtur, Rostislav and the back of Scott and Dasha during the evening of one of our going away parties. Irina, Irina and Artur all studied in the US as foreign exchange students and had no problem sitting on the floor when we ran out of chairs in our apartment (we had about 20 - 30 people and only six chairs). |

Helen, Marina and Roman are all students from my very first year here in Rostov. They've become good friends of mine and I hope they'll all come visit us in the USA some day. They're all talented and motivated individuals. |

Tatiana, Larissa and Maria all work at the Rostov Public Library and we got to know them pretty well and like them a lot! They had a small going away party for us at the library a few days before we left, complete with champagne, chocolate and gifts. We'll miss them! |

Here are some of the people who came to see us off at the train station in Rostov-on-Don the day we left. These folks all came in ones, and twos, not as one large group. They're all dear to us and it was hard to say good-bye. |
