My name is Stuart Bollen. I was educated in the UK and have degrees in Chemistry, Polymer Science and Technology from the National College of Rubber and Plastics Technology in London.
In the UK I worked as a Product Development Engineer for Metal Box, the UK's largest plastics company, and BP Plastics, principally in films, laminations and foams.
In 1967 I emigrated to the USA to work for Allied Signal's film division (now Honeywell) where I became Manager of Research & Development for products made at the Pottsville film plant. Products included nylon, fluoropolymers, polyesters and PVC film and sheet.
In 1979 I resigned to become Vice President of Templock Corporation, a start-up company where I developed an extrusion process and compounds for PVC shrink tubing for use in battery construction and tamper evident neckbands, installed compounding equipment, and printing processes.
In 1986 I joined Crown Zellerback / James River / Fort James / Printpack. I worked as a Research Fellow in the San Leandro Research center, principally in the development of personal hygiene proudcts and CAP/MAP films. Later I became Technical Manager for the High Performance Container Group specializing in Polypropylene / EVOH coextrusions and thermoforming of containers for shelf stable foods.
In 1991 I transferred to the coextruded cast films plant in Newcastle, DE as Technical Director for the Newcastle and Orange, TX cast film plants. I later additionally assumed responsibility for some of the activities at the Greensburg, IN and Jackson, TN blown film and converting plants.
In 2000 I took an early voluntary retirement from what is now Printpack and took up Consulting.
I believe my extensive background can be used to your advantage be it to correct production problems, improve efficiency, develop new products or select resin suppliers and equipment.
I have twelve US patents and have published several technical papers.
I am an American citizen, and when not Consulting, play tennis, cricket and go mountain biking.
