Brad and Jen's journal entry for: November 13, 2001
Hi family and Jamie,
Thank you for your emails!  We arrived in Saigon
yesterday during rush hour.  After 12 hours land
travelling it was a bit frustrating to be stuck, Brad
was starting to have a panic attack, you know how he
is in traffic!  We finally made it to our destination
and as 30 of us piled off the bus, I ran and checked
out a room (and took it because it was clean and had
hot water) while Brad got our bags.  We were in our
room and showered up before everyone was even off the
bus.  We are the coolest.  We have a new energy about
being here.  Cambodia took it out of us, but it was
great to experience.  Although Vietnam is very poor,
it seems to be about 10 years ahead of Cambodia.  The
first thing we noticed, as soon as we crossed the
border the road was paved.  It's the little things in
life, ya know?  The border crossing was a bit more
strict, we had to go to 5 different checkpoints.  In
the other countries we have been to they just stamp
your visa and you are on your way.  Next we are going
to change our money and become instant millionares.
One hundred dollars=1.4 million dong (pretty good huh?
jay we thought you would get a kick out of it).
Brenna, it is great that your year is going so well,
it makes me want to be in a classroom again to hear
your stories.  That would be great if you guys had a
house by the time we got home!
Julie, your questions were great.  We have be giving
sporadically, as if we gave to everyone, we would be
broke, and it wouldn't really help would it?  We
actually don't usually just give money if people are
begging, we usually give it to them if they are
selling something, so in a way we are both profitting.

Jeff we are sad to hear LeEtta is feeling sick, but we
can just imagine her saying "sneeze" and we die, can't
stop smiling!  It is probably not possible to send us
a Christmas present, we'll have Christmas when we get
home maybe?
Jason, congratulaions on your glowing evaluation from
work.  It sounds like you are not going to have much
of a life for the next several weeks, but you'll be
raking in the dough (not dong!)
Kay, we are so happy Grandma is doing well, and you
got to spend some time with her and Jean.  It is so
exciting you got our Christmas presents.  Yeah!
Mom, We are safe and are feeling good about being
here. As I sit here writing this Brad is trying to
have a conversation with the owner of the shop, a
quick English lesson he is trying to explain the
difference between gay and guy.  We really love
travelling, even when it's hard, it is really laying a
strong foundation for the rest of our lives!
We love you all, time to go become millionaires.

Love you all very much and miss you tons,

Jennifer and Brad

P.S.  Brad is now explaining what bullshit means.
This is one of the funniest conversations I have ever
heard!!!(The man heard it in a movie)
P.S.S.  Jamie, hope things are good in Wyoming.
