| Brad and Jen's World Adventure Budget |
| Airline tickets: Chicago, USA - Bangkok, Thailand (round trip) $1,600 Bangkok - Kathmandu, Nepal ?? Dehli or Calcutta, India - Bangkok ?? Budgeted $3,000.... .....$3,000 Daily Expenses: Housing, food , land travel, purchased items, misc. ($1,000/per month or roughly $35/per day for 10 months)........ $10,000 Travel/Health Insurance........................................................................................$800 Gear: (Jen's backpack, hiking boots (2), clothes, compression sacks, water tablets, film, prescriptions, books, thermarest, etc............................ $1,200 Digital Camera: Sony Mavica FD87(lens cover, spare battery, disks).................... .$500 . Storage Locker back home ($25/per month)......................................................... $250 Total........$15,750 This is a rough starting point. We are doing everything on own, including the Nepal trek. We have been told by several people who have traveled in this region that we will have plenty of money. For instance, The Lonely Planet suggests the "Budget-squeezers should be able to get by on 250Baht per day outside Bangkok if they really watch their expenses. This estimate includes basic guesthouse accomodation, food, nonalcoholic beverages and local transportation....add another 55 to 80Bhat for a large beer." US Dollar $1 = 40 Thai Baht Most accomodations are for two to begin with, we will spend a bit more on food and beverages for the two of us, but in Jennifer's words,"We will have plenty of money." |
