Here is a quilt designed to utilize 7 1/2" 9-patches collected in quilt swaps.
Fabric Requirements to make complete quilt shown above
Overall Size.....45"x45" finished
Block Size.....7 1/2" finished
Border.....1" finished
This quilt is composed of just two blocks, alternating a 9-patch & basket, and set on point
The baskets are paper-pieced and can be made from miscellaneous scraps
The basket pattern is on 2 pages, you must print each page
for full block
Click on the images of the block to open paper-piecing pattern (requires Adobe Acrobat)
NOTE: When printing, make sure setting is at 100% or your
basket may not be the correct size
For beginners to paper-piecing, here is Marcia Hohn's instruction page for practice:

Paper-Piecing Tips:
When paper-piecing a block like the one above, I find
it easier to pre-cut my pieces so my fabric grainlines
will be near straight of grain.
However, when pre-cutting for paper-piecing, you must OVERSIZE
all pieces to allow for placement.
* * NOTE * *
Each section of the paper-piecing pattern should have 1/4" seam allowance
If the seam allowance does not print, you must still account for it
when trimming each pieced section
Setting Triangles
For the quilt above, you will need 12 setting triangles
Cut a strip 12" x WOF of your background, then cut 3
12" x 12" squares.
Quarter these squares by cutting diagonally to make 4
triangles. Each 12" square will give you 4 setting triangles
Corner Triangles
From your background fabric, cut 2 squares 6 1/4" x 6 1/4",
then halve. This will give you the 4 corner triangles
