This tutorial is to help new quilters accurately piece a very traditional block,
The 9-Patch
A quilting group I belong to swaps out 9-patches on a regular basis,
so I have a large collection of 9-patch blocks made with all different fabrics
I have drafted several different quilts designs and posted links
on my home page specifically to use these blocks
However, if you like these designs and DO NOT have several dozen
9-patch blocks handy, you will need to piece some of your own
Not to have to re-invent the wheel, I have linked below to a "How-To" page
designed by Marcia Hohn of the Quilter's Cache
Her method will show you how to make 9-patches a few at a time,
so you will end up with a good variety, even if you don't
have access to a wonderful quilting group like me
Here is Marcia Hohn's page for making 9-patches
9-Patch Tutorial link here
Now that you know this great quick method, I will give you a nice
table below that will tell you the sizes to cut your fabric
for several standard size block units using Marcia's techique,
and follow with step by step photos as I make 9-patches
with her speed piecing method
