| Hard To Believe But TRUE! |
| 25 years ago, a very nice man named Lou Gardenas, a 1945 BHS Graduate, was running on the Burroughs Track and found a 1955 Graduation Ring with the intials E. M. on it. At some time he contacted Dixie Freeman and told her about finding the ring, but nothing happened so he just kept the ring in a safe place for all these years. Then this year at the 2002 All Alumni Picnic for BHS and JBHS, Lou Gardenas came by the 1955 JBHS Booth and first spoke to Walt and me and ask if we knew any one with the intials E. M. from 1955. We in turn, asked Carol Muscorella Maitland, so she got her papers out and checked it out and sure enough there was a classmate with those intials. It was Eugenie McCarthy. Her nick name was "Sweetie". He left his name and phone number and Carol Muscorella Maitland called Eugenie while we were still at the alumni picnic, about the ring. A few days later Eugenie called Lou and set up a time to go get the ring from him. That she did and after 25 years she had her Graduation Ring again and she was wearing it at the Classmate dinner at the Coral Cafe on 9-4-2002 with a big smile on her face. Walt took Lou's picture the day of the 2002 Alumni picnic as we knew we wanted to post and tell this amazingly happy ending story to you all. |
