| I was honored to meet Ms. Hill personally and hear her speak November of 2000, in Rockford Illinois. Julia is a very warm person, and it was really awesome meeting someone I deeply respected. I met with her before her speach, and she signed 2 copies of her book for me. We talked for a bit, and left with a hug. During her presentation we were shown a video on the issue of old growth logging, which lasted about 15 minutes. Then Ms. Hill came out to speak. When Julia walked in front of the sold out 300 seat auditorium, everyone was quite, and very adiment to hear what she had to say. She took off her shoes, and started to tell her amazing story, of life before and after the Luna treesit. If you havent seen her speak, i recommend that you do, she's a very physical speaker, and really knows how to get her emotional message across! I admit tears were falling as she was describing her feelings as she heard and saw the redwoods around her being cut. Sharing with the audience every tear, happy, and sad moment of her sit, and her life before and after, really set a mood of inspiration.You acknowledged what it was like for her in the Luna treesit, and the respect for her action grew even more. It was reallywonderful being able to hear her story from her and I am happy to have had the chance to see her speak, and very much hope you do as well, if Ms. Hill is in your area!
