Colorado July 2008
It's hard to believe that Ian and Hayden turned 8 this summer.  They soon will be starting third grade and will be attending the same school that Noelle works at.  We didn't get to see Emily this summer; she was in Wyoming attending camp.
We arrived in Parker on the afternoon of the 4th of July, bringing with us a variety of fireworks that we had bought on our drive through Tennessee and Kansas.  The block party started after dinner and the neighbors but on such a good show that the police actually showed up.  It seems that the laws regarding fireworks in Colorado are a bit more restrictive than those in the surrounding states but by this time we had set off all the really big shells and the rest of the evening went off without a hitch.
While Brian and Noelle went off for a few days of camping by themselves, we took the kids to the pool and the Wildlife museum where they got a chance to play miniature golf, watch a movie about Australia, pose with buffalo and see some local bunnies.
When we couldn't go to the pool the slip and slide kept the kids amused and wet.  Notice the different styles of sliding!
Here Hayden shows off her mermaid costume and Ian shows off his Lacrosse skills
This years birthday party was held at the local pool.
Among the many presents they received were BB guns from Mom and Dad, a sundial kit and a digital camera from Nana and PopPop, heelies from Grandma and Granddad, and science kits from Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Barry.
Ian became a pro at using the Pogo stick he received last year from Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Barry.  By the time we had to leave his personal best was over 500 jumps.
