To revisit the questions “what and where is cyberspace?” I must first start with what?  I feel that cyberspace is the combination of the advancements in technology that have a great deal of influence in our society today.  This includes all areas from the Internet and computers to medical and biological advances.  The changes in technology that have occurred have allowed our society to evolve over time.  The prosthetic heart that was implanted in a human made that human part machine and was also a step in the evolution of man.   Perhaps, in the future humans will be 50 % machine or more.

As far as the question “where cyberspace exists” is harder to grasp.  I feel that because of the technology that exists it is possible to say that cyberspace can be the general understanding of this technology or idea that it exists.  I am a Computer Science major therefore; I believe that the inner working of the machines is where this idea of a “space” actually is working.  It is the networks, chips, wiring, and connections of these machines that allow for human imaginations to run wild like on the Internet.

I do not feel that cyberspace is a collection of communities especially on the Internet because sharing a common interest and merely chatting about it does not fulfill the intimacy that exists in a community.  I feel that a chat room may lead to a community if it is taken further than just the Internet like meeting in person and having physical interaction.

I believe that cyberspace does exist across the world because it provides a means of communicating with people across the world. I myself have a friend that I talk to across the world in England and this is made possible by the advancements in cyberspace.  I think that these topics can be very controversial because the definition of cyberspace is broad, as are all the parts of it.
