And that's exactly what the Vengaboys are about. Today,
not only are the Vengaboys an International Phenomenon
with Superhit Tracks like ' To Brazil', 'We Like To Party',
'Boom! Boom! Boom!', 'Up and Down', 'Kiss(When The Sun
Don't Shine)', 'Shalala lala' and the huge summer anthem,
'We're Going To Ibiza', but by selling over 10 million singles
and 5 million copies of their first album, they are proving to
be the most successful Dutch Pop Group ever ! During their
second visit to India in the last 2 years, the Vengaboys met
DJ Jazzy Joe, at an exclusive press conference arranged
by Sony Music, Pepsi & DNA Networks and at the Autograph
Session at Planet M before their huge performance at the
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 12th March. Some excerpts -

JJ - Who are the Vengaboys ?
VB - Well, there's Kim from Brazil, Denise from Hungary, Yorick from Holland and Roy from Trinidad & Tobago with, of course, our producers, DJ's Danski & Delmundo from Ibiza, the party capital of Europe ! And now, our new 'FIFTH' member, CHEEKAH.

JJ - Why VengaBOYS ? There are two ladies, No ?
VB - No, they're guys dressed up as girls.........we're really a boy-band ! Seriously, when our producers, DJ's Danski & Delmundo were rocking the Beach-parties in Ibiza, the name was born and since they both were boys, so it's Vengaboys.

JJ - So, why don't we see them on stage ?
VB - Cause they're ugly and they can't dance ! Actually, they would rather concentrate on the music and the lyrics in the studio to keep the Magic Happening while we go jetsetting around the world keeping the Party going. We're all sharing our work as they get all the time and freedom to compose, write and produce while we can project the right image. Though we have no involvement in the music, we get paid to party - the best job in the world !

JJ - Your first album had a lot of variety in the 16 tracks but your second one followed more of a tried & tested formula. Today, what kind of music do the Vengaboys do ?
VB - Pop, essentially. But then, it all depends on the DJ's, like we have the first-ever Venga-ballad in ' The Platinum Album'. Although, we will always continue to give out party music.

JJ - What about Indian instruments, like the Tabla or Sitar ? Any plans to incorporate them in your future tracks ?
VB - That's a good idea, Jazzy ! Maybe, we can do an album/track called 'Vengaboys in India' and use these instruments.

JJ - Talking about your Indian experience, this is your second visit here - how has it been for you ?
VB - Well, India is the largest selling territory for the ' Party Album' in the world. And, we think that is because the people in India love partying and that's what we're about ! We were Stunned by the response to our shows in Mumbai & Bangalore - the fans were going crazy and we loved it ! We're also fascinated by Hindi films. All that running around the trees....very cute. We'd like to do it sometime !

JJ - Some of your music has been copied for other tracks or Ads. What do you feel about that ?
VB - Oh, we like people copying ! It's a compliment in it's own way, isn't it ? We leave all the copyright laws for the lawyers. The Vengaboys are about partying and fun, and there's no copyright on that !

JJ - Who do the Vengaboys party to - any favourites ?
VB - Well, we love Destiny's Child, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez and Lionel Ritchie.

JJ - Any marriage plans in the near future for any one of you ?
VB - As soon as possible, anyone interested ?

JJ - And your message to the crowd or upcoming artists?
VB - Well, there's no serious save-the-world message here. Just have fun while you can !

With that, they left to rock the Jam-packed crowd at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. But not before checking out the March issue of Blah ! And, they liked the magazine so much that they left a Special Autograph for Blah and it's readers. And, one for Jazzy congratulating him on his 9th Anniversary that very day. Now that's what we call fun-loving Bangaboys ! Cause, one thing's clear..........The Vengaboys aren't through with teaching the world how to party yet.........Not by far !
