Grammy Leaves Granny Behind !

Finally, the controversies and demonstrations were forgotten for a night and the words 'Tolerance' and 'Freedom' were introduced and endorsed by the Recording Academy into Grammy history. The theme this year was simply 'Music' and so, Madonna's
aptly-titled track was not only the opening performance of the telecast but also the
theme-music for the night. And, What a performance.......Don't these people age?
The other Hot performances on the air were by
Destiny's Child, U2, Macy Gray, Christina Aguilera, Paul Simon, Dolly Parton & the intense percussive performance by Jill Scott, Moby and The Blue Man Group.

There was a total of 100 Categories  this year (only 13 were handed out on the air).
The Big Winners were
Steely Dan ( four awards including 'Best pop Performance by Duo/Group','Best pop vocal Album' & the 'Album of the Year' ), U2 ( 'Best Rock Performance by Duo/Group','Record of the year' & 'Song of the Year' for the single,'Beautiful Day' ), Faith Hill ( 'Best Country Vocal Performance','Best Country Vocal' and 'Best Country Collaboration with Vocals' for 'let's Make Love' with husband Tim McGraw ), Destiny's Child ( 'Best R&B Song' & 'Best R&BPerformance
by a Group'
for "Say My Name" ), Macy Gray ( Best Female Pop Vocal ),
Shelby Lynne ( Best New Artist ), D'Angelo ( 'Best R&B Album' &
'Best Male R&B Vocal Performance' ) and Dr. Dre ( 'Producer of the year' ).
Dr. Dre also shared the grammy for the 'Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group'
with the Biggest winner this year, the artist whose nominations were defended by not only other musicians but also the Academy, Rapper
Eminem who won another Grammy for the 'Best Rap Album'( The Marshall Mathers LP ).

Eminem topped up his Wins and Support with a sensational performance with Veteran Artist and Gay Activist, Elton John ! And, while they both got a Standing Ovation from the crowd after their Show - Stopper Duet on Eminem's song about a fan - 'Stan', Eminem gave his signature ' Two - Middle - Finger - Stance ' to all those protesting outside the Staples Center. It surely was a night when Music won, not critics !
