Heartbreak

Sharp pain on the upper left side of my body
Throbbing head feels like a bass drum within
Salty tears trail from your eyes to your chin
Reality begins to show its presence depression slowly seeps in
Alone at the beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean
Cool breezes caress your wet face
Eyes cayenne pepper red as if contacted with mace
Soft crashes of waves and cries from sea gulls
In a mirror you see a person so vulnerable
In a rush to get away with a mind in great disarray
Without a simple word to say a silent prayer to end this day
Trying with all your might to keep your composure
Getting ready for another battle with closure
Wishing to fly away to a new place with new things
You wonder why your relationship filled with lightening and thunder
Rocked your little ship and caused it to quickly go under
How did things go so bad so fast when you both promised to make it last
You didn't see it coming never thought your love would crash
Nights before tossing and turning in your bed
Confusion, anger, and disappointment filled your head
The clouds came swiftly no cover from the rain and wind
Deep within you felt the relationship coming to a quick end
You sit alone facing the ocean contemplating starting all over again
Nice try but no cigar your heart you tried to defend
Once more you find yourself heartbroken

One Love
