Jazzy, The Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Unlike all other personal web sites (if you have seen one - you have probably seen many) this one is not about my favorite bars or music or places I go to or, even bikes/cars I like.
You won't hear me bragging about how cool I am or how tough my dog is, as well as other gags of little worth... Rather, I'll try to explain the basics about Staffordshire Bull Terriers, how to feed, train, socialize and of course where to get one.
Green font indicates important stuff - attention suggested.
Stuff in black is of less importance; basically my thoughts, comments and explanations - you can ignore it...

Why it took me that much time to get him?

I got Jazzy from South Africa last June, when he was only 2 months old. It took me almost 2 years to get him:
Being a bully breed fancier I am I was always looking for a Bull Terrier, specifically English Bull Terrier. So one day I went to yahoo and searched for the breed. Lotsa URLs came up and I believe I checked all of them - didn't really like a single dog... Then I searched some more and finally came across www.staffords.co.za - Staffordshire Bull Terrier Website - South Africa. Only then I realized that I had found a Dog of My Dream! |

breeders in South Africa are very
responsible people and they value their reputation, which means they don't sell their dogs just to anybody.
We have spent almost a whole year online asking questions back and force, shearing thoughts and simply talking, thus getting to know each other better - I'd say we've developed quite a friendly relationships, where we felt we could go beyond general dog related content.

Another year I was waiting for the right color ;-) I figured black or dark brindle would be really cool. And this is how I got Jazzy!

Stafford has it all... great well muscled body, courage and affection with humans married to a great intelligence,
dog is totally reliable with people, and kids especially!
If properly socialized with other dogs at early stages of his life - could be friendly with other dogs and house pets.

My boy's name is Jazzy and I can trust him with other dogs he grew up with
(not with big male stranger dogs though), but after all Jazzy is a Stafford and
without his natural tendency to dominate he wouldn't be one.
Nelline Pretorius of South Africa knew someone in New York, a Stafford Breeder, she provided an email and this is how I became acquainted with US breeders and shows.
I have not seen good Staffords in US,
unless they were imported from South Africa, Australia or UK - these 3 countries have
the best specimen. On top of this almost any local breeder will want a co-ownership
over your pup, which basically means you will pay for your pup but that breeder will
have a control over your dog and will be telling you what to do with him: which show
to go to, who to breed with (spay or neuter) and will have his interest in future
litters
- all depending on a deal you two will make.
