thanks to suzy for joining me on this trip even though she didn't know ruby and katt prior to this get-a-away! we went to get some sun and fun since i've never been to hawaii before and i live in freaking california! i wanted to go for my 24th birthday so i asked these chickas to join me!! :D
monday night: picked us up. scared by katt's driving, we were on the wrong side of the road. got lost for a few. finally ended up eating dinner at "food galaxy restaurant" on kuhio ave. the food was so-so. not worth the money we paid. we walked around some more wondering why shops closes so early. i vaguely remember what we did. we stayed at the aloha surf hotel. the names of streets were challenging to pronounce. we got lost driving each time getting back to our hotel. so finally sue took over the wheel because these streets were one way and there is only one
route to getting to our hotel. it was pretty humid when we got off the plane too. in the 80's and we got bags of leis from ruby and katt as welcoming gifts. oh yeah, we spent the first night walking pass the marketplace to go to Duke's. Here's a picture of us the first night outside Duke's. i have big zits on my forehead! i think it might be post stress after finals :X Anyways, we kicked it in the water at night. It was really nice to have the restaurant right outside the water. So Beautiful, even I couldn't see anything at night! :P
tuesday morning: we tanned at waikiki beach first to satisfy everyone's desire to get darker. we then had lunch at L and L drive in, local chains of hawaiian fast food. later that night, we met up with yvonne, ruby's local friend at night at ala moana shopping center's, mai tai bar. we had half off drinks and pupu platter meals. it was pretty good. the atmosphere, ambience was nice and chill. during the day we drove to north shore which was beautiful. wanted to eat at budget's magazine recommendation of giovanni's shrimp truck but we were late 15 minute and they wouldn't serve us. there loss! it was 11 dollars for a heaping plate i read from the magazine. along the hwy, we went up to north shore beach. isn't that where they filmmed "blue crush"? we also went into polynesian cultural center and dole plantation. the ice cream was really good! we had fresh pineapples and pineapple ice cream. here's a picture: smile!
wednesday afternoon: we spent buying cheap gifts for people. we went to the aloha stadium for the, swap meet. i think we also went to diamond head on this day too. i don't remember. i didn't go all the way up to the watch tower b/c the spiral staircase was too dark and i was out of breathe already! here's a picture pre diamond head hike: here Also, we went to Pearl Harbor. I believe we ate at sansei on restaurant row for my birthday dinner. The food was mediocre and somewhat pricey.
Thursday:i forgot what we did! we woke up early.
friday: we went to the byodo temple. surfing at Waikiki beach for 30 dollars/hour lesson taught by two old guys, Tommy and another one. I kept floating ashore or to the opposite direction. I do not have the arm strength what so over to pull myself out. I tried twice to surf and I think I stood up partially but then I slammed back down. First time, I fell into the water, second time I feel right back on the surf board. I got seasick out there. Sue and ruby said they saw part of my boobs b/c of the rush of the sea salt water, brushed against my bikini/halter top. Oh well. This one asian guy was checking us out, we were such rookies. He said to sue, hang loose or some shit like that. Then at night we went to germaines luau. it was $53 dollars. It was dancing, buffet Hawaiian style, pictures, different cultural dances, asking people to go up and perform. Here's a picture of us at the luau: eating. The show taught us culture and language such as the phrase hooney hooney. We went to Ocean's and Zanzabar as well with Ruby's friends. Here's a picture of Grant and Ruby. They ordered a lot of those blue drinks. I forgot the name! About 20 glasses at the least. The girls were hotties, the Hawaiian guys were kind of short. I didn't see any cuties!
saturday night: when katt and ruby left. sue and i ate at, the the curry house. it was pretty good. i had the udon with curry sauce, shabubu beef, spinach and i liked the pickled radish. Before ruby and katt left, we went to the honululu Chinatown to eat dim sum at, legend seafood restaurant. then we went to check out muu muus at rainbow Hawaii, inc. the website is cheesy but I am amazed how those people speaking old toisanese and Cantonese. Ruby got a bluish cool looking skirt and sue picked up some Hawaiian print stuff as well. Then we went back to the hotel to pack. But sue helped ruby packed a lot the night before. Katt just compresses her shiet into her bags. Hehe. Roobs gets a major headache whenever she needed to pack, thank goodness Sue was there to the rescue for her. We went to drop them off at the airport. Then Sue and I went to the Outlets somewhere in the outskirts of town called Waikele outlet mall.. Nothing too interesting was found. We went back onto Kuhio Ave to shop and ate at Curry House which was recommended by a Melanie, a local girl. I had the Udon with shabu shabu and spinach curry and Suzy had the Rice over curry with Shabu Shabu and Octopus.
Sunday night: since our flight didn't leave around 10pm, what did we do? I totally forgot! Hmmm. We woke up late, went to the beach for the last time for a little bit. I hate feeling hot at the beach but I suppose it is called beachy weather for a reason. J We did our final dip and departed b/c we had to return our car by 4pm at the hotel. We took the bus at the Enterprise rent a car shuttle back into the city. Suzy kept asking me what I wanted to do and I said I had no clue. So we walked around Ward center for a bit. We watched another movie, Finding Nemo. I had popcorn. Then we took the bus and passed by Honolulu Chinatown so we stopped by a restaurant to pick up take out Chinese food to eat on the plane. Suzy got a Seafood crunchy noodle and I got a Salty Fish with Rice. It was poorly made. Some Asian guys said Suzy breasts were big thinking we didnt know Chinese. We walked back in the dark to wait for our bus to the airport. It was $1.00 for the busy. Not bad right? Then the bus dropped us at our stop. Suzy smoked a little and then we boarded. I slept the whole way back to San Jose. It was crack of dawn when we came back. Sue showered, we drove around SJ. Had goldilocks and then I drove her back to the airport.
So that concludes our trip!

Gratefulness: I am grateful that sue came on this trip with me without prior knowledge my sorority/friends ruby and katt. It was brave of her because what if she didnt get along with them? She had concerns but I reassured her that katt and ruby are chill people and not to worry. :) :)
suzy bought the tickets on priceline, it was $330 roundtrip, 5 hour direct flight. we flew into hnl by night time but i really wanted to see the aerial view of hnl. boo! ruby and katt rented a car to pick us up. we were riding in our trusty toyota echo in white color. we almost got killed on a few occasions because katt was a new driver on the road. she told us to blame the steering wheel because it was so stiff to manuever.
. Then we caught a movie, Italian Job at the theaters by Brew Moon. Hella people. It was a good movie though. Charlize Therzon is so pretty. It was filmed in Italy, so even better and mysterious.
