JAZZ SPECTRUM BAND BIOGRAPHIES
BOB ZAUN,piano.....At age 14 he quit piano lessons after four painful years.  In college he met a "real" piano player.  Bob  asked if  played in a group.  "No ,but I'd like to.  What do you play?," he asked.  Without a hitch, Bob replied, "Bass."  That evening he called his father and said that he decided to minor in music and needed to get a string bass as a second instrument.  His Dad answered, "That's interesting, I didn't know you had a first!"  And so birth was given to his first group, The Bob Fiasco Trio!  Since then, lots of water has flowed under that bridge! Bob does all the arrangements for The Jazz Spectrum, plus writes the vocalese lyrics.  He is married with two children and two grandchildren.  Daughter,  Stacy sings the alto part and son, Greg  is a big contributor with his perfect pitch and ability to transcribe anything he hears.  His grandchildren Ryan and Paige Eifert, made their recording debut on Jazz Spectrum's "It's Christmas" CD.  In 2000, Bob retired from Chase Manhattan Mortgage as a Regional Manager.

JOHN EIFERT, drums...Formal  lessons were started at age 4 and he played his first professional gig at age 11.  John played 5 summers at Marriott's Great America and was section leader for the nationally acclaimed John Phillip Sousa Honor Band, performing in Washington, DC.  At the University of Illinois he successfully crammed four years into six.  It was there he met Stacy, Bob's daughter,  as they marched together in the snare line of the Marching Illini.  John is an Area Manager for Chase Home Mortgage.   He and Stacy have two children.

LARRY BOISEN, saxes, flute, clarinet, harmonica...when Craig Burgess, our original sax player, relocated to Wisconsin in 2003, we recruited Larry.   We met him in 2001 when he was in the audience at a Jazz Spectrum concert.  He introduced himself and he and Bob soon became fast friends.  They have worked together on various musical projects including writing a commerical for WRLR-FM which Jazz Spectum recorded.  Larry has a longer pedigree than a Westminster Champion!  He has backed up numerious popular performers such as The Ink Spots, The Harmonicats, Joey Lewis, Jerry Vale and Leslie Uggums, to name a few.  He also toured with Les and Larry Elgart, Ralph Marterie and Ralph Flanagan among others.  Larry is a playwright, a composer, a lyricist, an author, and a poet plus he is fluent in 9 languages!  He composed the title tune for Jazz Spectrum's CD, "It's Christmas."   Larry is married with two children and three grandchilren.  Recently he ahs compiled a book of recital duets which can be found on his website...check our "links."  Larry teaches all reed instruments, flute and jazz studies.

BILL ZIELINSKI
, acoustic bass... we discovered Bill in February, 2004,  almost by accident during a  recording session for the CD, "It's Christmas."  He was recommended by one of our guest artists and within a week he was at a rehearsal.  It was "love at first hear!"  Every kid has got to envy Bill...his job is developing video games! Bill is married and has a young, talented trumpet-playing son.

BOB VALE
, guitar/vibes emeritus...he joined Jazz Spectrum in 1987 and has been performed vocally and instrumentally.  In the past few years he experienced a hearing loss which  caused him to limit his performances.  In 2006, Bob had a stroke and has recovered remarkably well.  He is featured on Jazz Spectrum's "The Song Is You."
