AWAKE
SOLID
TECH
Words from Jake Lyman:
This was to date our most technical movie we've done. For one, we had tons and tons of props. Lots of costumes, actors and scenery. All of it was shot on location in the woods, mainly in the Municipal park in Boise which had endless woods and trees that would work perfect. We had to make a lot of the props and costumes. Let's go into how we did everything.
SWORDS:
We just found some marking stakes that the construction people use and we spray painted them silver. Then to get a sort of metallic sound when they hit, we taped butter knives around the point that woud make conact. Pretty clever huh?
COSTUMES:
The hardest costume of course was the headless horseman's. It was very difficult to get Kyle Sutton to look headless. The thing we had to remember was to heighten his shoulders and make it look like he didn't have his head covered up. It didn't turn out that great but it could have been worse. To make the shoulders higher we just rolled up some shirts and tied them together and to his shoulders.
ZOMBIE ZOO
To get this dance scene just right, we had to listen to the song by Tom Petty over and over. We were originaly going to do it for the sequel but decided that this movie needed it more. We broke parts of the song down into about 8 segments where we decided what we were going to do for each part. I think it turned out great. That's one of my favorite scenes.
