About The Artist...

ROD SHERRELL- Jazz Vocalist

NAPA - 1999 Christopher Copeland is producing yet another in a series of great shows for the Embassy Suites Napa Valley. This time he is presenting a solo performer Rod Sherrell.

In just a few years on San Francisco club dates, Mr Sherrell emerges as a song stylist of distinction, highly acclaimed for his original interpretations of the Great American Standards. Originally from Ohio, born to a family of singers, this singer-songwriter grew up singing gospel music. Since moving to San Francisco seven years ago, Mr. Sherrell has performed with saxophonist Jules Broussard and pianists Flip Nunez, Vijay Iyer, Larry Dunlap, Mark Little and Ricardo Scales on the popular San Francisco club circuit: the Plush Room, Rasselas, the Coconut Grove, the Paradise Lounge, the Great American Music Hall, and the Larkspur Café Theater.

Here are what critics and artists have said:

"Sherrell 's voice is smooth... he's a virtuoso vocal chameleon who sheds his stylistic skin at will depending on the tune" - Elizabeth Goodwin. Jazz music journalist

"Rod Sherrell is a natural... who sings purely from the heart. He delivers his material flawlessly, yet with no artifice or pretense.", - Vijaj Iyer. Jazz pianist and composer

"Rod's finesse with a song is uncanny. He softly weaves in and out of melodic lines leaving his listener the illusion of floating on a cloud." - Dick Stevens. Jazz Now Magazine. 1997

"A singer with impeccable taste and instinctive finesse." -Dean Goodman. Drama-Logue. 1997

Rod Sherrell has released his CD titled "It Never Entered My Mind", and is currently on the play list of KCSM (91.1 FM). He has made guest appearances on radio and television programs
