NEW YORK--Looks like Drew Carey will be front and center when CBS' "Late Late Show" returns Monday minus Craig Kilborn.

Carey was in talks Wednesday night about hosting the show for two nights next week.  Comedian has a show bowing this fall on the WB, "Drew Carey's Green Screen."

Eye and Worldwide Pants, David Letterman's production shingle, could release the list of initial guest hosts for "Late Late" as early as today.  CBS declined comment regarding Carey.

Kilborn stunned the latenight scene this summer when he announced that he would not reup as host of "Late Late," which airs at 12:35 a.m. following "Late Show with David Letterman."

Worldwide Pants programs the hour per Letterman's agreement with CBS.

Other guest hosts being considered include two members of the Worldwide Pants family, "Ed" actor Michael Ian Black and "Strangers with Candy" actress Amy Sedaris, as well as sports talkshow personality Jim Rome and standup comedian-actor D.L. Hughley.
