Dreams Age 6

What do I dream
What do I see
What do people see
When they see me
I wonder what mom and dad
Want me to be
I wonder what it is
I should forsee for me
I wonder what it was like
Before people were free
Chained in the bounds
Of slavery
I wonder what I will do
In years to come
I know I don't want
To be a bum
Maybe I'll be an actress in
Hollywood or New York
Then I could be a waitress
My tools a knife and fork
Maybe I'll be a teacher
I don't think I could be a preacher
Someday I'd like to write great books
Or be a model with beautiful looks
Or one who sings
Or a collector of diamond rings
What do I want to be?
I hear they let girls in the army
Can you imagine little old me
Defending our whole country
Someday maybe I'll fly a plane
Someday maybe I'll drive a train
Or even operate on someone's brain
Could you imagine me, a doctor
Foolish child your off your rocker
Is that what Mommy and Daddy would say
Or would they chase that dream every day
Maybe my dreams shouldn't be as such
Maybe I am dreaming a bit too much
Perhaps my dreams are too bold
After all, I am just six years old
