LAP Chapter 2: Algebra 2

In this chapter the student will review the essential skills and concepts in algebraic and statistical settings.  The students will learn

1.       identify different types of relations and function

2.       graph relations and functions on the coordinate plane

3.       graph inequalities on the coordinate

4.       identify the basic transformations of functions

5.       model real-world data using scatter plots

8/31      The student will learn the definition of relations and functions and then use them to describe given information.  He will also learn the vertical line test and he will continue using function notation.   HOMEWORK: p.69#17—39, 45—48

9/1        The student will learn function notation and continue to use his knowledge of functions.  HOMEWORK: p.69-70#34—48, 51—54 all

9/2        The student will learn to identify linear equations, to find the intercepts of a line and use them to graph.  HOMEWORK: p.77#18—21, 28—33 all

9/3        The student will take a quiz over the learned material.  HOMEWORK: Worksheet

9/7        The student will learn to write linear equations in standard form, and to determine the slope of a line.  HOMEWORK: p.77#22—27 all; p.85-87#19—29 odd, 30—33 all

9/8        The student will learn to graph a line given a point and slope, to determine if two lines are parallel perpendicular or neither, and to write an equation of a line in slope-intercept form given the slope and one or two points.  HOMEWORK: p.92-93#24—34 all

9/9        The student will continue to write equations given the slope and one or two points and he will learn to write an equation of a line that is parallel or perpendicular to a given equation.  HOMEWORK: Worksheet

9/10      The student will take a quiz over the learned material.  HOMEWORK:  Worksheet

9/13      The student will learn to draw scatter plots, and to find and use prediction equations.  HOMEWORK: Complete the Modeling Mathematics activity.

9/14      The student will continue to work with scatter plots.  HOMEWORK: p.99-100#11—14

9/15      The student will review the chapter’s objective in preparation for tomorrow’s test.  HOMEWORK:  Worksheet

9/16      The student will display his knowledge on a test.
