CHAPTER 8 LAP—Algebra 2 w/ Trig

In this chapter, you will  graph polynomial functions, determine characteristics of graph of polynomial functions, find factors and zeros of polynomial functions, approximate zeros of polynomial functions.

DATE

DAY’S OBJECTIVE

1-27

The student will define polynomial function and name the function of degree 0—5.

1-28

The student will learn about the end behaviors of polynomial functions; he will also define real zeros and turning points of a polynomial function.

1-31

Continuing with the long run (end) and short run behaviors of polynomial functions,  the student will then find the best window to view a polynomial function.  HOMEWORK:  Worksheet

2-1

The student will review function notation.  The student will learn the remainder and factor theorems.  HOMEWORK: p.483#24—30, 33, 35; p. 489#20—23

2-2

The student will factor polynomials completely given one of its factors.  HOMEWORK: p.489#10—13, 30—35

2-3

The student will be able to determine the number and type of zeros for any polynomial function. p.507#18—23

2-4

The student will show his knowledge of the material on a QUIZ

2-7

The student will write the equation of a polynomial function given its zeros or graph.  HOMEWORK:, p.483#42—44; p. 489#14, 38, 39; p.507#35—40

2-8

The student will identify all of the rational zeros of a polynomial function by using the rational zero theorem.  Then the student will find all the zeros of a polynomial function.  HOMEWORK: p.513#18—21, 26—30, 34—37

2-9

The student will review material learned on an in-class assignment.

HOMEWORK: Worksheet

2-10

The student will work on correcting the previous chapter’s test.  HOMEWORK: Worksheet

2-11

The student will show his knowledge of the material on a QUIZ.

2-14

The student will review for the test.  HOMEWORK: Worksheet
