LAP Chapter 4 Algebra 2

In this chapter the student will review the essential skills and concepts in algebraic and statistical settings.  The students will learn

1.      organize known data into a matrix

2.      perform scalar multiplication, and addition and multiplication of matrices

3.      find determinants and inverses of square matrices

4.      solve equations with inverse matrices

10/14   The student will learn the definition of a matrix and terms of matrices.  The student will also learn about the equality of two matrices and scalar multiplication.  HOMEWORK: p.191-192#19—24, 28—30 all

10/15   The student will learn to add and multiply matrices.   HOMEWORK: p.197#10—15 all, p.202-203#12—21, 26—29 all

10/18   The student will learn to evaluate the determinant of a 2X2 or 3X3 matrix and he will learn to use the calculator to perform matrix operations.  HOMEWORK: p.209#11—16, 27, 28; p.185#1—18 all

10/19   The student will learn the use of determinants in Cramer’s Rule.  HOMEWORK: p.144-145#22—30

10/20   The student will work on an in-class assignment over martices. HOMEWORK: Worksheet—Matrix word problems

10/21   The student will the definition of inverse and identity matrices and use these to solve systems of equations.  HOMEWORK: p.224#18—26 all

10/25   The student will review in preparation for tomorrow’s test.  HOMEWORK:  Worksheet
