LAP Chapter 4 Algebra 2
In this chapter the student will review the essential skills and concepts in algebraic and statistical settings. The students will learn
1. organize known data into a matrix
2. perform scalar multiplication, and addition and multiplication of matrices
3. find determinants and inverses of square matrices
4. solve equations with inverse matrices
10/14 The student will learn the definition of a matrix and terms of matrices. The student will also learn about the equality of two matrices and scalar multiplication. HOMEWORK: p.191-192#19—24, 28—30 all

10/18 The student will learn to evaluate the determinant of a 2X2 or 3X3 matrix and he will learn to use the calculator to perform matrix operations. HOMEWORK: p.209#11—16, 27, 28; p.185#1—18 all
10/19 The student will learn the use of determinants in Cramer’s Rule. HOMEWORK: p.144-145#22—30
10/20 The student will work on an in-class assignment over martices. HOMEWORK: Worksheet—Matrix word problems
10/21 The student will the definition of inverse and identity matrices and use these to solve systems of equations. HOMEWORK: p.224#18—26 all
10/25 The student will review in preparation for tomorrow’s test. HOMEWORK: Worksheet
10/26 The student will display his knowledge on a test.
