The path leading away from the Caves is narrow, steep and sandy, but eventually it levels off and you find yourslf at a crossroads. This is guarded by a rather windswept-looking fae, who introduces himself as Cloud. A grey, lupine creature with many tails sits at his feet, look ing bored. "This is Argus. He's a trelith," he explains. "He's a grouchy old beast at times, but I think he's just about settled in here. He doesn't like other creatures much, but he loves fresh air and he makes a great guard, which is why he watches the crossroads out here with me." He scratches the top of Argus' head fondly, and invites you to do the same. The trelith's rough-looking fur is in fact quite soft, and thick, like husky hair. "I'm sorry," Cloud adds, but one of our roads is up at the moment. You can either go on ahead into the woods, uphill to the Pastures, or you can head back to the Caves." |
