Jay Zhong

Jay Zhong was born to a professional musician's family in Beijing China. He began studying violin at age 4 and later entered the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Zhong later emigrated to the USA and studied in the Manhattan School of Music and State University of New York. He is noted for his versatility as a violinist, composer, and pedagogue.
Zhong's music set parallel to his own image, creating a unique style of original Chinese concert music that is well intergrated with the Western musical traditions.
Jay Zhong is currently the Director of Strings and Violin Professor at California State University, Los Angeles. He has held professorship at the Western Illinois University, the Bogota International School of Music, and the Young Musician at Purchase program of SUNY. He has taught master-class in both violin and composition in various institutions, including Western Illinois University, University of Delaware, the Bogota International Music Festival, and the Beijing Conservatory of Music. As a violinist he has appeared world-wide as both recitalist and chamber musician to great reception.
Jay Zhong holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Fine Arts degree from SUNY at Purchase.
