In December 1992, he passed his GED tests and fulfilled the terms of his probation. He then moved in with his girlfriend, Domini Teer, in West Memphis. His parents returned to West Memphis shortly after he did. When the murder was committed, Damien calims that he was between his parents's house and Domini's.
Any known associates of Damien were brought in an questioned. Damien and his close friend, 16 year old Jason Baldwin, had regular visits from the police.
The day the bodies were discovered, the police received a phone call from someone claiming to know about the murders. Aaron Hutcheson claimed that he had witnessed the murder, and the assailants were men speaking Spanish. He later claimed that the murderer was John Mark Byer. Aaron's mother told the police that Damien had taken them to an Esbat (Satanic ritual). At the trial, she admitted that the story was made-up.
