“A Story of Me”
By Eric Benner
If I cannot be the same
I’ll take away the false thought
So I refuse to play the game
I won’t return from whence I came
As much as people say I ought
If I cannot be the same
So my mind you cannot tame
My soul was never bought
So I refuse to play the game
Others work their way to fame
It’s a great and sickening plot
If I cannot be the same
The masses, as they fall, scream a name
Knowing in horror they’re caught
So I refuse to play the game
And you fools thought you could tame
Me, but the lesson I have taught
If I cannot be the same
So I refuse to play the game
