| Having installed quite a few systems in pickup trucks I wanted to make it unique yet leaving the seats and everything else fully functional and giving the entire install a professional and neat appearance. I wanted very tight controlled bass with as little wattage and air volume as possible. Upon reviewing my opinions I decided that Infinity Kappa 10's were the best available for my budget. As for the construction of the box I would like to thank my little bro Jeremy, "Thanks Creep" and Uncle Ralph for putting up with my 13 hours of cutting, glueing, screwing, and measuring insanity. I am surprised that I got the needed volume for the subs out of this box and still be able to get the seat all the way back and tilt it all the way. Each sub only requires about .6 square feet of volume. To power these little beauties is a MTX 250D mono subwoofer amplifier. |
| Well here is the last stage of the insanity. I removed the door panels and proceeded to install a set of 6.5 Infinity Reference component speakers. Word of caution the speaker mounts in S10's are very odd and even the kit I bought to install them didn't work right and I ended up making custom brackets for the midranges out of ABS plastic. I coated the inside of the door panels with rubberized undercoating. I must say that the Dynomat or any other similiar product doesn't work any better than the undercoating and is a waste of money. As for the tweeters I thought about kick panels but after further review of what it would take to install them like bending a perfectly good emergency brake linkage 3 inches and the fact of the truck being a stick and fearing sticking my foot through the midrange I opted to install the tweeter just forward and up from the midrange to get the best imaging possible from the mounting location. I still have the stock cd player in the truck and as far as I am concerned I won't be changing it out soon for I am quite happy with it. The component set is powered by the stock head unit with the crossovers mounted on the inside of the door panel under the pull handle. There is alot of room under there. Any questions just ask. |
